Grand View Manor is a not for profit home known to support our community through our commitment to quality care and innovative support for both clients and our interdisciplinary team. In our 142 bed facility, care is provided in an enriched housing, an assisted living, and a nursing home setting. We are committed to providing holistic care to the residents we serve.

Located in Berwick, Apple Capital of the Annapolis Valley, we are one hour from Halifax and minutes away from the highest tides in the world. Work with us as we plan for our new state of the art facility scheduled to open in 2026.

Position Summary

The Food Services Worker is involved with all aspects of tray set-up and assembly, preparing and serving of food, including assisting with special diet preparation, delivery and pick-up of food carts, stripping of trays and tables in the dining rooms and dishwashing.


Responsible for:

Tray set-up and assembly

Preparation and serving of food, including assisting with special diet preparation

Delivery and pick-up of food carts

Stripping of trays and tables in the dining rooms

Dishwashing

Position may involve vegetable, sandwich, salad, dessert, nourishment, etc. preparation and service.

Position may involve routine stocking of supplies, putting orders away, temperature recording, equipment and area cleaning and sanitation.

Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Reliability

Previous experience within institutional food service an asset

Interest/experience in working with an elderly resident population an asset

Applicant must have the ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions and perform routine tasks

Good communication skills and a willingness to learn new tasks

Must be a team player

Ability to lift 25 kg

Position involves standing for long periods of time, various temperature zones and repetitive motions

Verified Criminal Record Check

Education

Grade 12 high school

Current training in safety/sanitation such as the Food Safety Course or willingness to complete the course

Shifts may include

Early: 6:15am-2:15pm - May include (E8, E2, ECH, E3)

Late: 11:00am-7:00pm - May include (L8.L1, LCH, L3)

4HR: 7am-11am
