The South Shore Family Resource Association -

is currently accepting applications for a

Parent Educator - Lunenburg County

The Parent Educator will provide programs and services to families with children aged 0 to 18 The main focus of this position is to provide parenting programs to families with children in group settings and one on one support.

The Parent Educator will be responsible for:

Developing appropriate material and activities for parenting programs.

Working closely with centre staff to recruit participants, scheduling programs and referral intake.

Participates in regular centre meetings with the Executive Director and other project staff.

Working with outside organizations and participates in community meetings assigned to them.

Upholding the philosophy, goals, objectives and policies established by the SSFRA.

Participate in ongoing training and professional development.

Qualifications:

An undergraduate degree/diploma in Social Sciences or a combination of education and relevant experience.

Knowledge and skills in child and youth development

Knowledge and understanding of positive parenting and parent/child relationships

Knowledge of the principles of adult education

Experience in working with families

Experience in working with children and youth

Experience in working in a community-based setting

Strong knowledge and understanding of community development principles and experience in applying them.

Excellent time management and organizational skills

Excellent problem-solving skills

Experience with trauma informed practices and approaches

Ability to build relationships while maintaining healthy boundaries

Ability to work independently and within a team

Knowledge of the services and supports for families in Lunenburg County

Basic computer skills

A valid driver's license and reliable transportation

Hours, Renumeration and Start Date:

30 hours per week. $21/hour. Start date to be determined.
