Long Term Care Aide (LTCA) position to commence immediately, end date to be determined based upon funding by Department of Seniors and Long-Term Care.
Qualifications:
- Must have a Grade XII or equivalent
- Experience in continuing care an asset
- Demonstrated passion in working with residents with a focus on resident centered care
- Demonstrated communication skills, initiative and empathy skills
- Proven reliability for shift coverage
- Ability and confidence to work independently
- Regular attendance is required
- Must be able to provide a current vulnerable sector check
- Position physically and mentally demanding at times.
- Drive and accompany Residents on medical appointments and recreational outings using the Queens Manor bus.
- Must have experience and proper license for driving the facility bus for appointments and outings as per insurance requirements.
Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Director of Recreation, the Long-Term Care Assistant (Recreation and Van Driver) performs various activities related to the scope of recreation including program facilitation, supervision, planning and documentation. Additionally, the LTCA must drive the Queens Manor bus to take residents to appointments, including regularly scheduled dialysis as well as for recreation outings. This position works in coordination with the recreation programmer role but is a separate job classification. The needs of each resident must be met in accordance with his/her/their care plan, and in a coordinated, cooperative manner with all staff working together to strive for an optimal level of care. The LTCA provides quality resident centered care, consistent with available resources and in accordance with the mission, vision, values, code of conduct and policies of Queens Manor.
This position does not involve nursing care or CCA duties.
Schedule:
- Shifts can be 4, 8, & 12 hours and may be days, evenings, including weekends and holidays
