Atlantic Cultivation is a premium Canadian cannabis cultivator located in the heart of St. John's, NL. We operate a world class, state-of the-art, indoor cannabis production facility where we cultivate cannabis using top feed drip hydroponics. In addition, through its 100% owed subsidiary, Atlantic Cannabis, we operate eight cannabis retail stores throughout NL.

The Role - Senior QA Tech

Reporting to the Regulatory & Quality Assurance Manager, the Senior QA is responsible for ensuring that the product meets the company's objectives for purity, quality and security. The Senior QA must meet external and internal regulatory requirements including legal compliance and customer expectations and will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with our Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review of batch reports to ensure Cannabis is produced as per GPP/GMP (Good Production Practices/Good Manufacturing Practices)
  • Communicate with other managers for process improvements and alignments of quality concepts.
  • Ensures that all processing activities are conducted as per SOP's to produce consistent quality cannabis products.
  • Review and maintain Standard Operating Procedures for site facility.
  • Establish and maintain record keeping systems and ensure employee adherence to proper documentation practices.
  • Assist with the implementation of quality systems in regulated environments to make effective and strategic decisions as a result of evidence-based analysis, striking a balance between quality, productivity and customer service.
  • Equipment verification, validation and calibration checks.
  • Review and approve incoming materials.
  • Review complaints, deviations, out of spec results and lead investigations including corrective action and preventive action.
  • Oversee premises, hygiene of personnel, equipment cleanliness and maintenance.
  • Assist with implementation of standards, methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision, accuracy and reliability of products.
  • Assure compliance to in-house and external specifications and standards.
  • Assist with internal audits and vendor evaluation audits on a regular basis to determine quality qualifications.
  • Actively participate in external audits such as regulatory inspections.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Communicate effectively to all levels of management.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Key Qualifications & Abilities

Education & Experience

  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Biological Sciences/Pharmacy/Food or post-secondary diploma in Science related technical discipline
  • Experience with GPP, GMP, ISO or any other quality accreditation
  • Minimum of 1+ years experience in Quality Assurance
  • Experience in the cannabis industry preferred, food safety and/or pharmaceutical experience considered an asset
  • Experience operating in a fast-paced organizational environment
  • Pesticide safety certification considered an asset

Job Specifics

  • Normal hours are Mon to Fri, 830-430
  • Work location is at our head office/production facility in St. John's, NL
  • Must be 19 or older
  • Compete Criminal Record Check
  • Ability to pass a Health Canada security clearance
