Employment Opportunity: Records Analyst (full-time, 18-month contract, subject to a probationary period)

Established in 1789, the University of King's College is Canada's oldest chartered university and is associated with Dalhousie University. The incumbent is responsible for adapting the Dalhousie Records Management program and procedures as required and implementing this program at the University of King's College. The incumbent will provide Records Management services to all administrative units at the University of King's College. Records Management Services include: advising on records classifications, assisting with the disposition and/or transfer of records, and responding to records management inquiries.

ORGANIZATION STRUCTURE

The incumbent reports to the University Librarian and Archivist

SPECIFIC DUTIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Assess and triage the records backlog of the University of King's College (print and electronic).
  • Assist in creating appropriate documentation for disposition and transfer of records.
  • Process paper records from various units of the University of King's College.
  • Assist in transferring records to the University Archives.
  • Create and maintain a strong working relationship with the Dalhousie Records Management Office.
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of the Dalhousie Records Management policies, procedures, and classification system.
  • Assist staff, faculty, and units of King's College in Records Management Practices
  • Respond to Records Management Inquiries.
  • Assist in promoting existing Dalhousie RM Training to King's faculty and staff
  • Provide King's-specific training as required.
  • Liaises with staff at the Dalhousie Records Management Office.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Completion of a 2-year Library and Information Technology program at a Community College plus 1-2 years relevant experience in records and information management
  • Public service skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills, organizational skills, accuracy and attention to detail
  • Able to lift and move file boxes (approximately 13 kg)

Salary will be commensurate with level of education and experience. The salary for this position is $52,672 annually including a benefits plan with medical and dental.
