We are currently seeking a Payroll & Benefits Coordinator to join our team at the Dartmouth Head Office in Burnside. This is a full-time, permanent position, Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

This position requires a well-organized individual with a strong eye for detail, along with excellent analytical and data processing skills. The ideal candidate will hold a Payroll Compliance Practitioner designation.

Position Details:

  • Process bi-weekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees across multiple provinces.
  • Set up new hires, process terminations, and other bi-weekly changes as they occur, including wage or position changes, new earning/deductions codes, departments, etc.
  • Monitor and verify time entry, manual time sheets and other payroll forms. Assist managers with entering time entries and attendance tracking.
  • Track and remit source deductions or other payroll deductions, WCB premiums, employee benefits, etc.
  • Create and/or run a variety of reports including routine bi-weekly reports, and ad hoc requests for internal reporting.
  • Administer vacation scheduling process; monitor accrual balances and vacation reporting and tracking procedures.
  • Maintain confidential paper and electronic files. Prepare and distribute ROEs and year-end reports including T4 / Releve 1. Respond to CRA and Service Canada inquiries.
  • Administer group benefits and retirement savings programs. Process enrolments, changes, terminations, and remittances. Respond to employee inquiries and assist with enrolments, online access, or other information as needed.

Requirements:

  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation, or comparable training plus 2-3 years of experience in a medium sized enterprise.
  • Basic accounting knowledge plus a good understanding of employment-related legislation in multiple provinces.
  • Proficiency with Ceridian Dayforce and/or Payworks software along with excellent PC skills, including strong capability in Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent accuracy and attention to detail. Highly organized and deadline driven.
  • Able to work with a high level of discretion and confidentiality.
  • Good interpersonal skills for communicating with both managers and staff.
  • Bilingual (French/English) would be a definite asset.
