The New Brunswick Community College Student Union (NBCCSU) is seeking a Student Life Officer for the Moncton campus.
Employment Type: Full-time up to 35 hours/week
Salary: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
Location: Moncton
The Student Life Officer is responsible for the planning, delivery, and evaluation of sporting, recreation, social, cultural, leisure, fundraising, wellness and volunteer student activities that enhance the quality of student life for NBCC students.
Reporting to the Executive of the Local Campus Union and the NBCCSU General Manager, the Student Life Officer is responsible for the following key areas:
Student Life:
- Assist in the planning, developing and implementation of the LCU annual business plan encompassing social, cultural and athletic events and cost estimates at the campus level.
- Develop and update a student events calendar.
- Liaise with community groups to support community events such as Run for the Cure, summer camps, and promote volunteerism at the campus.
- Manage extracurricular activities and events that complement NBCC's plans, i.e. Orientation of new students and Graduation.
- Ensure student committees and clubs are organized and advertised. Provide leadership to the committees/clubs, ensuring each has a terms of reference and adheres to NBCC policy. Provide budget oversight.
- Support and/or organize campus / community fundraising events.
- Organize leadership training for students through conferences, workshops and seminars.
- Coordinate with the NBCCSU and NBCC on matters related to student activities to ensure alignment with other scheduled events.
- Ensure adequate fitness activities and resources are available for students at their respective campus.
- Manage the Local NBCCSU Social Media accounts
- Work virtually with the Student Life Officer Team to ensure a similar student life experience at each campus
Supporting the Local Campus Union
- Organize the annual student LCU elections at the campus level.
- Ensure accounting policies are in place for managing the LCU budget.
- Understand and provide guidance concerning the NBCCSU constitution, bylaws and guidelines, and assist the LCU in adhering to these requirements.
- Provide guidance to the LCU on its role with the students.
Office Administration
- Manage the flow of information from and to students.
- Control the use of LCU equipment, facilities and resources.
- Manage the financial aspects of the LCU office, including events.
- Monitor the business plan, including the budget. Report any irregularities and recommend adjustments.
- Supervise staff of the LCU office including clerical support, financial services, summer camp staff and special projects staff.
Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent with a minimum of two-year post-secondary training.
- Experience with bookkeeping or accounting.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite - Word, and Excel.
- Experience working with Student Representative Councils or Health & Safety Committees is an asset.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, and excellent organizational skills.
- Provide proof of a clean CPIC (criminal record check), which includes fingerprinting.
- Experience with social media.
- Possess a driver's license and access to a vehicle.
