Position: Communications Coordinator
Job Type: Full-time
Job Level: 1-2 years' experience
Location: Halifax (hybrid)
Salary: Starting rate of $57,095 annually
The Opportunity
As the Communications Coordinator your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Social Media
- Plan and develop social media plans for events, campaigns and other initiatives
- Develop content and copy both on site through live posting of events or initiatives (including video creation and editing)
- Support graphic design and creation of visual assets with Canva
- Schedule content posting consistent with overall communications strategy
- Continuously monitor all channels and regularly evaluate analytics
- Respond to inquiries and comments on various social media platforms
Events and Marketing
- Provide communications support in the planning process of the Support4Sport Awards including over 200 nominations, selection committees, online technology for two-tiered process, 30-page event program, etc.
- Support planning events such as Ceilidh and Casino, Milk Sport Fair and Support4Sport Awards, and attend for on-site assistance
- Coordinate promotion for events including scheduling and posting content
Internal and External Communications
- Coordinate mass emails, monitoring communications inbox and regularly updating and maintaining membership contact list
- Develop informational communications materials for SNS departments and PSOs
- Update communications content on website such as blog stories, Sport Quarterly articles, Impact Awards, etc.
- Ensure organization brand and tone are used consistently in communications
- Assist with strategy to implement current campaigns and improve communications
- Assist SNS departments and PSOs with communications including social media plans, events promotion and issue support
Writing and Content Development
- Manage all stages of the development of the SNS blog including strategy, drafting, posting to website and sharing on social media
- Write and distribute Impact Awards news releases and update website
- Review biographies, script and pronunciation for events
- Manage Sport Fund success stories strategy and communication channels
Team Participation
- Build and maintain effective and collaborative networks and relationships with colleagues and stakeholders
- Participate regularly in staff meetings, events, and staff training

Who You Are
The qualifications and skills that would make you successful in this role include:
- A post-secondary degree or diploma in Public Relations or Communications
- 1-2 years of relevant experience managing social media channels and coordinating digital communications
- Comfortable working with the Microsoft Suite (Teams, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- An understanding of the Nova Scotia Sport System would be considered an asset.
