The Director is responsible for overseeing and leading the development of programs and processes to identify and manage the leadership development of top executives. This role drives initiatives to continuously enhance/improve Executive Development Programs, ensuring alignment with established objectives and goals for learning. Responsible for leading the curation of Human Capital Committee (HCC) agenda and the end to end management of building and reviewing materials to meet the needs of HCC as led by CHRO and SVP, Talent. Supports driving the Leadership strategy through HCC and Human Capital and Compensation Committee of the Board (HCOB) including executive development, leadership behaviours, SVP+ appointments and SVP+ succession including CEO succession.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
- Lead and drive a customer-focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge
- Lead the end-to-end management and strategy of the Human Capital Committee as defined by CHRO, SVP, Talent Strategy, and VP, Leadership and Talent Management
- Define the leadership strategy and oversee the development of programs, processes, and policies in alignment with the overall talent and Bank strategies. Partners with Talent Strategy COE, HR Business Partners, and other stakeholders in order to align talent objectives with business needs and goals
- Lead annual review of SVP+ succession plans in alignment with Bank Leadership strategy with deliverables to HCOB, Board of Directors and other committees of the Board
- Manage approval process of all SVP+ appointments including oversight of EVP+ appointment communications and administrative logistics
- Manage the CEO succession process in coordination with senior HR leaders, external executive advisors and the HCOB
- Lead research to inform the Bank on organization-wide leadership capability issues and opportunities and develops recommendations to address gaps
- Partner with senior HR leaders on all top of the house organizational reorganizations (EVP+)
- Lead the annual review of all executive mandates for HCOB and the Board of Directors
- Act as a subject matter expert and provides expertise on all aspects of executive leadership development
- Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions
- Create an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations within his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct
- Build a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment; communicating vison/values/business strategy and managing succession and development planning for the team
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if you have:
- Post-secondary Degree or Masters in Human Resources or Business or related field
- Extensive experience within Human Resources
- Deep understanding and knowledge of Bank policies and procedures
- Strong knowledge of Organizational structure and internal dynamics
- Extensive experience and comfort working with high-potential executives
- Strong knowledge of executive development programs, executive leadership assessment processes, etc.
- Exceptional influencing and relationship building skills
- Strong analytical skills with ability to identify recommendations and opportunities from data
- Driving innovative solutions that create value for HR partners
- Ability to think strategically and cultivate networks and relationships
- Manage vendor relationships
- Ability to translate strategy into actionable plans and results
