Infection Prevention and Control Nurse

Position Summary:
We are seeking an Infection Prevention and Control Nurse to join our team! This critical leadership position is responsible for implementing infection control strategies, providing leadership and mentorship to staff, and ensuring compliance with the latest regulations, best practices, and evidence-based guidelines. The successful candidate will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, public health officials, and various departments to improve healthcare outcomes while fostering a safe, clean, and compliant environment for both residents and staff.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the planning, development, and implementation of the organization-wide infection prevention and control program.
- Provide education and consultation on infection prevention and control strategies to staff, physicians, and departments.
- Conduct surveillance and data analysis to identify trends, manage investigations, and ensure continuous improvement.
- Maintain accurate records and vaccination tracking, ensuring compliance with vaccination protocols.
- Lead the Infection Prevention & Control Committee and collaborate with Public Health and other agencies.
- Oversee the PPE inventory and ensure staff adherence to infection control practices, including hand hygiene and PPE compliance.
- Manage outbreak situations and lead risk management initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with good standing in the College of Nurses of Nova Scotia.
- Experience in a long-term care setting is an asset.
- Certification (or willingness to obtain certification) as Infection Control Designate.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to provide leadership and mentorship to staff.
- Proficient in infection prevention and control practices, epidemiology, outbreak management, and risk mitigation.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
