About the Role:

As the Assistant Director of Care - Direct Care, you will lead a team of dedicated healthcare professionals in delivering front-line, high-quality care. You will oversee the daily operations of the nursing team, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and continuously seek innovative ways to improve resident care. This is a key leadership role where you will step in for the Director of Care in their absence and play a pivotal part in our mission to enhance the lives of those in our care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee daily operations for the direct care nursing team
- Investigate incidents related to resident safety and well-being, ensuring swift and accurate resolution
- Review and update clinical procedures, checklists, and forms
- Collaborate with leadership to plan and execute strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing care
- Manage and evaluate the performance of Nurse Managers and Physician Liaison
- Actively participate in staff development, recruitment, and performance reviews
- Develop and deliver in-house and off-site training programs for nursing staff
- Conduct regular audits to ensure quality care and compliance with best practices
- Promote equity, diversity, and inclusion in the workplace and care delivery
Qualifications:
- RN or LPN license in good standing with the College of Nurses of Nova Scotia
- 5+ years of leadership experience in long-term care
- Experience in management/supervision is highly desirable
- Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
