As part of the Digital Technology Operations team, the Lead IT Specialist is responsible for managing employees (both regular employees and contractors) that are responsible for the delivery of digital workplace devices, applications and services that support the digital employee experience (DEX). In addition, the role would focus on improvement of the digital workplace to empower and engage employees to adopt new technology, increase digital dexterity and improve business outcomes, while interacting with all levels of the organization.
Key functions include:
• Manage NB Power helpdesk employees as well as deskside technicians, both contracted and regular employees, as well as leading development of corporate digital workplace architecture and framework.
• Work closely with other IT colleagues to measure business impact, digital experience monitoring and application performance monitoring as well as other analytics and monitoring tools. Participate in budget preparation, business case preparation and KPI management (the creation and use of KPI's).
• Maintain current on emerging technologies and platforms and guide how they should be integrated and introduced to respond to business demands. Prepare written documents such as briefing notes, post incident reviews (PIRs) and technology position papers.
Our ideal teammate will have:
• Bachelor of Computer Science OR Bachelor of Engineering with specialization in computer networking, cloud management, security management, device management or systems management
• Ten years of progressive experience with demonstrated technical leadership including experience in the following areas:
o Supervising a team (providing direction, oversight, etc. for employees)
o Computer management (deployment, operate, future planning)
o Working knowledge of Information Technology Infrastructure library (ITIL) framework
• Ability to communicate effectively, written and verbal
An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be modified.
An Eligibility List generated from this competition may be used to fill future vacancies at the same level within a period of up to 12 months.
