Effectively establish and coordinate technical business activities to align with the goals and objectives of the Global Finance and Risk Technology (GFRT) organization within Scotiabank. Responsible for overseeing the completion of projects and enhancements of business product owners within defined time frame and budget.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Procurement Technology, Global Finance and Risk Technology, the main function of the Business Application Specialist is to estimate, analyze, design, document, test and support system solutions for new Third-Party Risk Management (TPRM), Procure-to-Pay (P2P) and Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) for Global Procurement Services (GPS). This person will support the execution of projects and enhancements to the existing TPRM/GPS system solutions, according to timelines, while following defined software development lifecycle framework and procedures, including (but not limited to), testing, change management standards, and accepted business intelligence technology best practices. This individual will work closely with stakeholders and technical team members while managing the relationship with both internal GPS business partners and third-party vendors.

This is a hands-on role and requires a thorough understanding of the detailed design of the proposed solutions. Domain expertise should include procurement processes, Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) & Third-Party Risk Management (TPRM), Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM), Category Sourcing; P2P, Incident Management, Audit compliance, Contract Life Cycle Management, Global Payments; IT enablers, Procurement digital transformation, SDLC frameworks and Integration methodologies.

In this role you will:

  • Analyze and estimate highly complex business requirements and change requests.
  • Support the production of business requirements documentation, conduct review and analyze requirements with business.
  • Produce technical specifications documentation, configurations & integrations to design or redesign complex processes, workflows and capabilities of technology solutions.
  • Meet with product stakeholders, users and external vendors on regular basis to ensure ongoing system efficiency and functionality.
  • Leverage industry best practices to estimate, gather design, test, implement and support a solution.
  • Assure quality, security and compliance requirements are met for supported business partners, stakeholders and product owners.
  • Coordinate the design, development and testing of technical solutions within a complex and demanding environment.
  • Complete and document TPRM/CLM/P2P configuration components and Integration
  • Work closely with technical team to facilitate the integration of new systems, programs, and applications with business operations at a program level
  • Work with Enterprise Architecture teams to ensure consistency in design and implementation across technical landscape.
  • Present requirements, configuration, architecture, design, and technique choices to internal stakeholders, senior management and (where applicable) external vendors.
  • Identify strategic opportunities and drive cross-business and cross-functional change, improvements and efficiencies.
  • Document the structure, connections and relationships of business processes, organizational work groups, data models, applications, user interfaces and application interfaces.
  • Provide guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for the purpose of onboarding existing and new users to the new application(s).
  • Support Product Owner(s) in the creation of learning and communication documentation.
  • Provide regular communication to stakeholders and vendors regarding status of assigned work activities.
  • Responsible for overseeing access and licencing inquiries and/or requests.
  • Ensure that supported applications maintain bank and regulatory standards and ensure that all application-related documentation is updated as required.
  • Responsible for the coordination and communication of outages, performance degradation and other impactful events and work closely with both vendor and technical teams to address and communicate resolution (including root cause analysis (RCA).
  • Responsible for the coordination of the responses to audit requests as well as the reporting of findings to both internal business partners as well as external parties (i.e. vendors) where required.
  • Monitor Key Risk Indicators to ensure that performance of supported applications is compliant with bank technology standards.
  • Ability to provide back up support for incident (ticketing) triage/assignment to support volumes when required.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field.
  • 2-3 years of technical business analysis and functional systems experience.
  • Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) Certification or equivalent work experience considered an asset.
  • Experience in technical business analysis in Procurement, Third Party Risk Management, Payments/Invoicing or a related industry.
  • Experience in business system application design, development and installation
  • Experience with Source-to-Settle (S2S) and/or Procure-to-Pay (P2P) Solutions (i.e. Icertis, Coupa P2P), Risk Assessment and Third-Party Assessment solutions, Data management tools, BI reporting solutions and project tracking software (i.e. Confluence, JIRA or similar).
  • Strong knowledge of Cloud and Cloud offerings, especially Software as a Service (SaaS); management of cloud service providers/vendors.
  • Familiarity with system integration solutions.
  • Advanced skills in eliciting communications, negotiations and customer service: business requirements, requirements estimation, writing business documents such as process maps as well as technical requirements, use cases, data mapping and system process mapping.
  • Working knowledge of industry technology trends and best practices related to system interoperability.
  • Experience in application support, incident resolution processes and ticketing tool management.
  • Knowledge of design, documentation and development integration solutions for cloud-based applications i.e., cloud computing, service models - IaaS, PaaS, SaaS and deployment models – private, public, hybrid etc.
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Familiarity with/ability to research regulatory and compliance requirements and/or reporting preferably in the Finance & Banking Industry
  • Bilingualism (English/Spanish, written/spoken) skills considered a strong asset.
