Creating a Sense of Home: We are home to 108 residents. At Windsor Elms Village there are three distinct neighbourhoods. Each neighbourhood has four houses of nine residents. With such a diverse group of residents, you will find each house has its own character. At WEV, we strive to create flexibility that mirrors life in the communities and homes our residents have known.


Cook is responsible for taking a leading role in coordinating the activities of the Foodservice Department and for the preparation and handling of food according to the resident and café menus, recipe specifications, resident preferences and diets /textures, kitchen and catering requests. The Cook is responsible to ensure attractive, appetizing , nutritious and safe meals are prepared. The Cook is responsible to ensure food safety standards are met at all times and staff safety is of the paramount importance.


Summary of Roles & Responsibilities (Full Job Description available upon request)
• To handle food in accordance with sanitary and food safety regulations.
• Ensure resident's diets, textures, allergies and preferences are adhered to
• Produce quality products in which great pride is taken
• Ensure menu and recipe specifications are followed
• Preparation of supper menu, desserts, breads , for next day service
• Provide leadership and direction to foodservice team

Requirements / Qualifications:
• Cook certification considered an asset
• Previous healthcare setting an asset
• Current Food Handler's Certificate
• Knowledgeable of the various diets and textures
• Good communication skills.

Hours: The regular hours of work for this position are intended to be 6:00am to 2:00pm and 10:00 am - 6:00pm. 7 days a week and holidays.
