As part of the Transmission Line Design Engineering team, the Senior Technician is responsible for delivering transmission line design projects, preparing detailed engineering job packages, specifying required materials, and providing technical support to field crews. The Senior Technician collaborates closely with real estate, surveying, and environmental teams to ensure all designs are safe, constructible, and compliant with applicable engineering standards.
Key functions include:
- Plan and coordinate transmission line design projects throughout the province and execute line design projects in PLS-CADD.
- Produce engineered job packages and specify materials for projects.
- Design transmission line structures in PLS (Power Line Systems) family of software.
Our ideal teammate will have:
- Civil Engineering Technology Diploma OR Electrical Engineering Technology Diploma.
- Over 5 years of experience in engineering design, with preference for candidates with transmission line design background.
- Knowledge of electrical or structural aspects of transmission line design.
- Effective communication, organizational skills and technical writing ability.
- Previous experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation will be considered as an asset.
- Experience using the line design software PLS-CADD/PLS-TOWER/PLS-POLE will be considered as an asset.
An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be modified.
An Eligibility List generated from this competition may be used to fill future vacancies at the same level within a period of up to 12 months.
