WorkSafeNB is seeking a Director, Planning and Operational Performance. Reporting to the Director, Corporate Strategy and Planning, you will evolve a culture of performance excellence, accountability, and alignment at WorkSafeNB by designing, developing, implementing, and maturing a corporate planning discipline that includes strategic planning using balanced scorecard methodology, an annual plan for Government, divisional operational plans, and multi-year corporate/operational plans that integrate long-term modernization goals. These plans create alignment from Board to frontline, operationalizing strategic direction.

Your key areas of responsibility are as follows:

  • Corporate Planning - Evolving a culture of performance excellence, accountability, and alignment at WorkSafeNB by designing, developing, implementing, and maturing a corporate planning discipline that includes strategic planning, an annual plan for Government, divisional operational plans, and multi-year corporate/operational plans that integrate long-term modernization goals. These plans create alignment from Board to frontline, operationalizing strategic direction.
  • Project Planning & Prioritization - Designing, implementing, and continuously maturing an enterprise-wide project planning and prioritization discipline that encourages a culture of continuous improvement and innovation, while ensuring projects selected across the enterprise are aligned to the strategic plan and will contribute to improving the strategic KPIs and/or modernization goals.
  • Operational Performance - Creating, implementing, and maturing a disciplined enterprise-wide system of accountability.
  • People Leadership - Enabling and directing the department plan for the growth, development, and success of staff to ensure they are equipped to deliver on superior service.
  • Leading Change - Enabling a culture receptive to change.
  • Financial Management - Developing and managing the department budget and spend related to resources, training, travel, etc. Ensuring deviations from plan are reported with each forecast along with drivers clearly identified.

You, as a successful candidate, possess:

  • Must have a bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, planning or a relevant field.
  • Must have 5 to 7 years of senior management experience with advanced experience in leadership, with specific experience in corporate performance and quality.
  • Experience leading strategic and/or operational planning processes in mid to large size organizations.
  • Experience leading change at the executive level of organizations and using influence to facilitate consensus.
  • Experience working with boards and board committees.
  • Ability to think strategically, linking operations and systems toward shared goals.

Written and spoken competency in English is required.

Pay Scale $106,995.51 to $125,877.07

Hours of work are those required to perform the assigned tasks but shall not be less than 35 hours per week.

Organization

WorkSafeNB administers no-fault workplace accident and disability insurance for employers and their workers, funded solely through assessments on employers. All employers having three or more workers are obligated to obtain compensation coverage.

WorkSafeNB is committed to preventing workplace injuries and illness through education and enforcement of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

WorkSafeNB is administered by a board of directors consisting of the chairperson, a vice-chairperson, the president and CEO (non-voting member), the chairperson of the Appeals Tribunal (non-voting member), five members representing workers, and five members representing employers. Other than the president & CEO and the chairperson of the Appeals Tribunal, members of the board of directors serve part-time.

WorkSafeNB's mandate is to:

  • Provide sustainable insurance and insurance-related services to the employer community.
  • Represent stakeholders and provide recommendations and advice to government with respect to legislation, and publish such reports, studies, and recommendations WorkSafeNB considers advisable.

Assessments are affected by the level of activities in the province's workplaces, as are the resulting claims. There are also substantial assets that ensure WorkSafeNB will be able to provide the ongoing benefits promised to injured workers through a wage loss recovery insurance system. These funds are invested in the financial markets and investment returns are subject to the ups and downs of the marketplace.
