Summary

Bell's Data Engineering and Artificial Intelligence unit is composed of specialized teams that are responsible for the data management, machine learning models, and machine learning architecture that support Bell's diverse and complex business needs.

We are seeking a Senior Data Scientist I to join a dynamic and collaborative team responsible for a key ML product at Bell. This is a terrific opportunity to make a large and quantifiable impact on improving our customers' experience and driving value for the business. You will work with highly collaborative teammates, lead technical design and implementation of new functionalities through your advanced ML and analytic capabilities, and build relationships with stakeholders across multiple levels of management. We also invest in our team: you will be able to get certifications, have exploratory development time, attend conferences, and receive mentorship to help you grow towards your long-term career goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and productionize new ML-based functionalities to drive additional business value of an established ML product
  • Provide technical guidance on the evolution of our ML product, and explore emerging and alternative ML strategies to choose the best approach for our business context
  • Work with stakeholders across Bell to ensure our ML product meets their evolving business needs
  • Work with and present to all management levels
  • Maintain and expand your knowledge of ML/AI and current technology through training opportunities, conferences, etc.

Critical Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Machine Learning, Computer Science, or a related discipline. Master's degree or PhD is an asset
  • 5+ years of work experience as a data scientist, machine learning engineer, or in a related capacity
  • Algorithms
    • Advanced knowledge of ML models, including for deep learning and recommender systems
    • Hands-on experience and expertise with different AI/ML frameworks such as Keras, Pytorch, TensorFlow, SparkML, Scikit-Learn
    • Awareness of new technology and techniques in the ML/AI space
  • Coding and technical design
    • Advanced Python development skills and consistently implements coding best practices
    • Adeptly scopes, designs, and leads on the implementation of new functionalities for ML-based apps
    • Capable of mentoring and giving constructive feedback to fellow data scientists
  • Data and analysis
    • Advanced SQL ability. Strong ability to analyze data to determine trends, quantify impact, and derive insights
    • In-depth understanding of A/B testing, bias, and study design
  • Collaborates and communicates effectively
