Job Description:

TD Asset Management (TDAM), a member of TD Bank Financial Group, is a leading North American investment manager offering progressive investment solutions to both institutional and individual investors. As of December 31, 2024 TDAM and its affiliates manage over $459 billion in assets on behalf of pension, insurance, endowment/foundation, and corporate clients, as well as high-net worth clients and retail mutual funds.

In attaining this client commitment, TDAM has built one of Canada's largest and most respected investment management and research teams with more than 220 Portfolio Managers, Associate Portfolio Managers, Traders and Analysts.

The primary role of the Associate, Market Risk, is to support TDAM's risk management culture of personal accountability and the integrity of the investment management discipline. To achieve this, the Associate will be required to be the risk expert and partner with all areas of the business in helping them understand and address their risk exposures.
Position will report directly to the VP&D, Market Risk, and will be support the identification of emerging risks and assist in defining the risk frameworks covering the Market Risk team's oversight responsibilities. The Market Risk team is building out enhanced monitoring, oversight, and policies to assess risks such as valuation, credit, liquidity, and counterparty risk. The team is focused on the alternative assets and private debt mandates while interacting with many other TDAM teams.

The incumbent will be required to work independently, demonstrated analytical and communication skills.


Specific Accountabilities:

  • Valuation oversight for TDAM mandates, including creation of challenger models, writing Model Development Reports and daily oversight of 3rd party valuations.
  • Model governance ownership and oversight, collaborating with model developers, TD Wealth model governance and model validation teams.
  • Recommend pricing methodologies across all asset classes.
  • Support the enhancement of the TDAM liquidity framework.
  • Support Private Debt funds with price reconciliations, performance attribution and securities modeling.
  • Participate in cross-functional - wealth initiatives as a subject matter expert helping to identify risk / provide guidance for complex situations.
  • Dashboard reporting and policy limit monitoring.
  • Keep abreast of emerging issues, trends, and evolving regulatory and business requirements and assess potential impacts.
  • Support Ad-Hoc initiatives

Job Requirements

Qualifications/Skills/Experience:

  • Experience within risk management; 3+ years
  • Significant knowledge of OTC derivative valuation; Model development
  • Strong quantitative skill set with applied knowledge of quantitative/statistical techniques used in risk management and valuations
  • Knowledge of the Bank's model risk governance framework
  • Knowledge of derivatives and private asset valuation techniques
  • Functional knowledge of VBA / Python
  • Strong presentation, and communication skills
  • Knowledge of Confluence is an asset
  • Collaborative working style and the ability work in an environment with competing priorities.

Specific Educational Requirements/Accreditations:

  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in business, finance, engineering, or computing science
  • An industry designation, such as a CFA and/or MBA and/or Master's Degree is an asset
  • Experience in the investment management business or capital markets
