SCHEDULE: Day, 8 and 12-hour shifts. Work schedule may be changed to meet operational needs.

JOB SUMMARY:

Under the management of Clinical Nutrition Services in collaboration with management of the Diabetes Clinic, the incumbent ensures that a patient-centred approach is employed, including the provision of a range of clinical nutrition and certified diabetes educator services aimed at meeting outpatients' needs. As a registered dietician and diabetes educator the incumbent will be responsible for completing diabetes management and nutritional needs assessments.

He will also provide individual or group teaching, be expected to participate actively in teamwork and will be involved in the planning and implementation of Diabetes Program activities, which may include quality improvement activities, performance management and statistical development, training and orientation of trainees or other health care professionals, and research. The incumbent will be responsible for tasks such as reporting and clinical documentation.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Member in good standing of the New Brunswick Association of Dietitians or eligible for membership;
  • Certified Diabetes Educator with the Canadian Diabetes Educator Certification Board – CDECB;
  • Accredited by the N.B. Insulin Adjustment Accreditation Program or obtain certification within two years after taking up the position;
  • Experience in clinical nutrition with diabetic and other populations would be an asset;
  • Certification and experience working with insulin pumps would be an asset;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Physical ability to perform assigned work;
  • Good work history (performance and attendance);
  • Adherence to professional ethics principles, the Network's management philosophy and organizational values;
  • Adherence to Vitalité Health Network's confidentiality rules.
