Requirements
- High School diploma required or GED.
- NB Class three (3) driver's license with E endorsement (air brakes) would be considered an asset.
- Demonstrated experience and competency in the operation of excavation equipment around municipal infrastructure would be considered an asset.
- Ability to work after hours, function as an on-call employee, and work shift work if required.
You must attach a copy of your valid driver's license and a current copy of your driver's abstract with your application.

As a Permanent Labourer with the City of Fredericton, you will be a vital member of the Roadway Operations team. Under the direction of the Supervisor - Roadway Operations Division in the Engineering and Operations Department, the successful candidate will join a team that performs work that is physically strenuous in nature and involves the use of hand tools and/or manually operated equipment. Assignments will require the operation of Municipal vehicles. The ideal candidate will be a team player comfortable working in outdoor environments to support the ongoing maintenance and upkeep of public rights-of-way.
What You'll Do:
- Perform functions consistent with construction and maintenance of roads, streets, sidewalks and ROW's.
- Perform physical labour tasks such as lifting, carrying, digging, and operating various hand tools and light equipment
- Care, maintain and operate equipment used to perform required duties including loaders, tandem trucks, backhoes, tractors, skid steers, mini excavators, etc.
- Assigned to snow and ice control operations during winter months
- Position duties require heavy physical exertion
- Working in a team environment or individually, as required
- Perform other required duties of the division to a proficient and safe manner.
- Required to work in all weather conditions.
- Responding to after-hours emergency work
- Responding seasonally to after-hours snow and Ice control
