Weldon McInnis is a medium-sized full-service law firm in downtown Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Established in the 1950s, it has been a landmark of the downtown core. The practice areas include real estate and property litigation, family law, personal injury, corporate and commercial law, estate and trust law, and criminal law.
Weldon McInnis has an immediate opening for an office manager and is seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our team and help manage the firm's day-to-day affairs. The primary responsibility of this position is to manage an administrative/accounting office and to provide support and guidance to the legal staff.

Although this is a full-time position posting, we are open to a less-than-full-time proposal as long as the work schedule can be coordinated with the accounting staff and the chief operating officer.
Areas of key responsibilities:
- Serves as the point of contact for all firm employees regarding its day-to-day operations. This includes maintaining an employee attendance record and providing guidance and troubleshooting.
- Assist in annual staff review and coordinate with lawyers to ensure all annual performance reviews are scheduled and completed prior to the AGM
- Participate in strategic planning with the Chief Operating Officer in the firm's HR needs and advise the operational needs with respect to the HR policy
- Plan and organize employee functions, such as Christmas and summer parties, training, social wellness programs, etc.
- Served as the backup for the junior accountant as required. This includes basic accounting functions such as cheque disbursement for property closing, cash receipt, and deposits. Troubleshoot lawyers and client inquiries.
- Coordinate with the Chief Operating Officer to ensure upkeep of the building maintenance, including interior/exterior,
- Supervise and provide support to the admin team. Schedule backup for front office personnel as needed.
- Provides support to all lawyers with matters related to HR and office-related issues.
- Provide support to the Chief Operating Officer and Management Committee.
