Long Haul Dispatch/Customer Service Representative - St. John's, NL
Jump Recruitment Specialists has partnered with Hunt's Logistics in search of a full-time permanent Long Haul Dispatch/Customer Service Representative for their St. John's location.
The Long-Haul Dispatch/Customer Service Representative is responsible for day-to-day planning and communication with long-haul drivers. The role ensures optimal driver utilization, real-time communication, assigning accurate load management, and a high level of customer service through proactive planning and coordination with the operations and sales teams.
The successful candidate will be a hands-on, adaptable team player who isn't afraid to pitch in wherever needed. This is a Monday-to- Friday position, in an office, with occasional on-call duties as required.

The Job
Dispatch:
- Act as the first point of contact for Hunt's long-haul drivers regarding dispatch instructions.
- Provide drivers with accurate and timely load information, including but not limited to load-specific details, appointment times, securement instructions, and customer-specific requirements.
- Maintain up-to-date entries in the dispatch software with real-time information (trip notes, delays, wait times, special charges, etc.).
- Communicate effectively via phone and email, ensuring prompt responses to driver or customer needs.
- Pre-plan optimizing load assignments based on freight availability, route efficiency, and Hours of Service (HOS).
- Work closely with the sales team to review orders, confirm load details, and resolve any discrepancies in dispatch.
- Provide timely updates to the sales and management teams to ensure alignment on driver movements, load progress, and upcoming operational needs.
Customer Service:
- Contact customers to schedule appointments and communicate any delays or issues promptly to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Book orders as needed for house accounts.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in dispatching, logistics coordination, transportation, or customer service is required.
- Strong working knowledge of dispatching systems such as Fleet Manager is an asset.
- Exceptional organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills are required.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while managing multiple priorities.
- Understanding of Hours of Service (HOS) regulations, load security, and truck routing is an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and other planning or communication tools.
- Positive, proactive attitude and a team-oriented mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in time-sensitive situations.
