Individual Case Specialist, Vulnerable Adults and Seniors Branch Full-time Position

The Office of the Child, Youth and Senior Advocate is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a full-time position as an Individual Case Specialist within the Vulnerable Adults and Seniors Branch. This position will focus on supporting Indigenous individuals.
This role requires proficiency in English (spoken and written). The successful candidate will work from one of the Advocate's offices in Fredericton, Saint John, Moncton or Bathurst, with options for other work locations within the province to be explored.
About the Office
The Office of the New Brunswick Advocate operates under the Child, Youth and Senior Advocate Act to ensure that the rights and interests of vulnerable populations – including seniors and adults with a disability – are upheld in government policies, programs, and services. This is achieved through:
- Independent and confidential examination of complaints or concerns regarding access to appropriate services,
- Monitoring and assessing laws, policies, and services to ensure fairness and proper implementation,
- Providing recommendations to government and advocating for systemic improvements,
- Reporting on the availability, effectiveness, and responsiveness of services in New Brunswick.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director of Individual Case Advocacy, the successful candidate will:
- Work directly with Indigenous individuals, families, and First Nations to ensure access to appropriate services.
- Handle questions and complaints related to services for vulnerable adults and seniors.
- Assess whether government policies, procedures, and legislation are being properly followed.
- Advocate for systemic and individual change by identifying gaps in services and making suggested actions.
- Conduct policy research to support advocacy efforts.
- Interact with government and community organizations, particularly those serving Indigenous populations.
- Participate in the weekly case intake rotation as assigned.
Essential Qualifications
- A university degree;
- Experience working in services and programs that support vulnerable adults, seniors, and Indigenous peoples
- Demonstrated knowledge of local Indigenous peoples' cultures, customs, and traditions.
- Ability to foster trusting relationships.
- Experience in a social services field such as adult protection, health, housing, public safety, legal advocacy, or elder care.
- Familiarity with provincial government programs, Indigenous-led services, and community-based supports.
- Ability to travel within the province (including occasional overnight travel).
Preference will be given to Indigenous applicants or to individuals who have direct experience working with Indigenous organizations.
An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
Written and spoken competence in English is required. Please state your language capability.

Salary: $65,936 - $92,092 annually, depending on education and experience.
