We are currently seeking a dynamic, forward-thinking healthcare leader to oversee the Emergency Department & Intensive Care Unit at Western Memorial Regional Hospital. Reporting to the Regional Director for Medicine and Critical Care with Hospital & Clinical Services, this position will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care while fostering an environment of collaboration, innovation and clinical excellence. The role plays a key part in operational strategy, staff development, and performance improvement across both high acuity service lines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide autonomous operational leadership and direction to teams in both departments, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and regulatory standards.
- Lead initiatives to improve patient flow, reduce length of stay, and enhance patient and staff satisfaction.
- Manage departmental budgets, resource allocation, and staffing plans to maintain efficiency and quality outcomes.
- Foster a culture of safety, evidence-based practice and continuous professional development.
- Collaborate with medical staff, department directors, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes and throughput.
- Monitor performance metrics and lead quality improvement initiatives, including accreditation readiness.
- Recruit, mentor and evaluate clinical and support staff, promoting a positive and engaged work environment.
- Support the adoption and integration of new health technology and optimization tools.

Qualifications:
- A baccalaureate prepared graduate of a health care related discipline with current registration through a provincial regulatory body.
- Minimum 5 years of clinical experience, with at least 3 years leadership role
- Proven ability to lead high-performing teams in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
- Strong analytical, communication and decision- making skills.
- Clinical experience in acute care settings considered an asset.
- A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required for this position/
