Requirements:
- Minimum prerequisite is a journeyman's certificate (Red Seal).
- Five (5) years of relevant experience in Auto Body & Collision Repair field.
- An equivalent combination of training and experience may be acceptable.
- Valid NB Driver's license, class V.
- Applicant must successfully pass a criminal record check prior to hire and provide a Driver's Abstract.
- Knowledge of standard practices and equipment of the Auto Body and Collision Technician trade;

Join our team as a Service Technician I - Auto Body & Collision Repair within our Fleet Division.
The City of Fredericton is seeking applications for employees specializing in fleet maintenance with speciality in Auto Body and Collision work. Reporting primarily to a Foreman within the Fleet Services Division, the incumbent is responsible to perform repairs specializing in Auto Body and Collision work. The successful applicant will utilize their acquired skills and previous work experience to conduct quality work within the Fleet division. The successful candidate will perform work at the red seal journeyman level in the Auto Body & Collision Trade. Tasks working on light vehicles and Heavy truck & Transport assets including but not limited to repairing and restoring damaged motor vehicle body parts/panels, interior finishing components, sandblasting and repainting body surfaces, etc. Assignments can be given in the form of written or oral instructions. Work is subject to review after work is completed.
What You'll Do:
- Adjust, repair or replace parts and panels/components of automotive, heavy equipment, heavy trucks and buses;
- Removal and installation of electrical equipment and accessories;
- Sandblasting, welding, light fabrication, and painting of damaged assets.
- Complete notes on work orders and reports to record problems and work performed;
- Assist in completing Repair Estimates for shop and Insurance Repairs.
- Build an accurate parts list for ordering parts on any repairs.
- Other related duties as required.
What You Bring:
- Knowledge of standard practices and equipment of the Auto Body and Collision Technician trade;
- Knowledge of the principles of operation of gasoline and diesel engines and of mechanical repair methods applicable to a variety of fleet vehicles;
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety practices of the trade;
- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions;
- Ability to diagnose or trouble shoot electrical problems:
- Must have complete set of tools to perform the work listed above.
- Knowledge of a wide variety of fleet assets including light vehicles, heavy trucks, heavy equipment and buss fleets would be an asset.
- Knowledge in body repair in plastics, fiberglass, aluminum and steel bodies.
- Valid Class V driver's license.
- Applicant must successfully pass a criminal record check prior to hire.
