Senior Architectural Analyst

As a Senior Architectural Analyst with Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro, you will report to the Senior Manager, Solution Delivery. You will provide insight, direction, and vision regarding technology and its impact across the corporate infrastructure, including cloud technology networks, computer hardware infrastructure, software applications, and end-user tools. You will also establish standards for the deployment of infrastructure plans and ensure adherence and compliance. Principal Activities,

Duties, and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and update infrastructure and application roadmaps.
  • Serve as the technical lead on select projects, providing guidance and expertise to team members.
  • Assist with the development of project estimates, justification, and play a key role in the Capital Planning process.
  • Analyze the IT (Information Technology) environment to detect critical deficiencies and recommend solutions for improvement.
  • Document necessary technical architecture design and analysis work, possibly including project postmortem documentation and metric collection.
  • Co-ordinate and synchronize the strategic and tactical plans for the following areas:
    • Computer hardware platforms
    • Application software
    • Database technology
    • End User tools
    • Security infrastructure
  • Work with each area to ensure that implementation plans are developed so that new technologies are made available when needed.
  • Perform other related duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications

A minimum education level of a University Degree in a quantitative discipline or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience in system design and implementation of large sized enterprise-wide systems. 5 to 7 years of experience in at least two IT disciplines in a client/server or service- oriented architecture (SOA) environment, including technical architecture, network management, application development, middleware, database management, or operations. Exposure to multiple, diverse technologies, and processing environments and experience with cloud computing platforms (ie. Azure, AWS) would be considered an asset.

  • Excellent analytical and technical skills, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of business process re-engineering principles and processes.
  • Basic knowledge of financial models and budgeting.
  • Ability to translate business needs into solution architecture requirements.
  • Ability to estimate the financial impact of solution architecture alternatives.
  • Ability to apply multiple technical solutions to business problems.
  • Ability to quickly comprehend the functions and capabilities of new technologies.
