The Authorizations and Compliance Division is responsible for the administration and management of regulatory programs and activities as well as responding to inquiries and concerns from the public related to departmental programs and environmental emergencies. The division consists of the Authorizations Branch, Regional Operations and Compliance Branch, Compliance Support Branch, Waste Diversion Branch and the Watercourse and Wetland Alteration Branch.

The Department of Environment and Local Government provides integrated stewardship through planning and management of land use, and waste management issues. It ensures effective enforcement of, and compliance with, environmental legislation and regulations and provides effective consultation and liaison with local governments, regional service commissions and Rural Districts on governance related issue

What you will do? As a member of the Compliance Support Branch, you will be responsible for managing divisional priority projects related to environmental legislative programs, including air and water permitting and approvals, compliance and enforcement, training programs, and other projects within the division's mandate. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and assisting in the planning, management, coordination, and implementation of priority projects.
  • Assisting the development of written project deliverables, including reports, guidelines, briefing notes, and other communications.
  • Assisting in the management of project budgets (where applicable).
  • Reporting to the director and other senior management members on project status, timelines, risks, barriers, and results.
  • Developing and maintaining positive partnerships with DELG staff, other departments/agencies and stakeholders as applicable.

Essential qualifications
The successful candidate must have:

  • A University degree or technical diploma in Environmental Science, Applied Science, Environmental Engineering or other related disciplines and a minimum of six (6) years of related experience.
  • Experience working in changing and/or project-driven environments, leading and/or supporting projects in the area of environmental project management, environmental engineering, or industrial engineering.

An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Written and spoken competence in English and French is required. Please state your language capability.

Asset Qualifications
Preference may be given to candidates that demonstrate one or more of the following asset qualifications:

  • Demonstrated track record of successfully managing projects from initiation to completion.
  • Project management or process improvement qualifications.
  • Expertise in project management methods and proficiency in Microsoft365, PowerBI and/or project management software.
  • Experience with facilitation and working with teams to problem solve and identify solutions.
  • Relevant industry or environmental consulting experience.
  • Experience with data management and visualization, and analysis of key performance indicators.

Wage
Pay Band 6: $2,947.00 to $3,920.00 bi-weekly, based on 36.25 hours per week.

Work environment

  • Office location: 20 McGloin (Marysville Place), Fredericton.
  • Standard hours of work: Monday - Friday, 8:15-4:30 (office schedule)
  • Possibility of remote work within New Brunswick.
