Who We Are
The New Brunswick Economic and Social Inclusion Corporation (ESIC) is seeking a highly motivated individual to join the Corporation as a Policy Analyst located in Fredericton. ESIC is the Crown Corporation responsible for the Economic and Social Inclusion Plan of New Brunswick. ESIC was created to develop, oversee, coordinate, and implement initiatives to reduce poverty and assist thousands of New Brunswickers. ESICâ??s vision is that everyone living in New Brunswick has the opportunities, resources, and security to thrive and actively participate in community life.
The Corporation has a board of directors that is led by co-chairs that represent government, business, non-profit organizations, and persons who have lived experience with poverty. ESIC recently renewed the Overcoming Poverty Together Plan and is in the process of operationalizing the strategy.

What you will do
We are seeking one individual to join the Policy Team. This is an opportunity to join a small team at a critical time in an important process.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Conducting research and analysis on the topics of poverty and social inclusion.
- Supporting the development of key reports
- Contributing to comprehensive research services which includes gathering, analyzing, synthesizing, and presenting available existing research and information.
- Monitoring provincial, national, and international best practices in the area of poverty reduction and increasing economic and social inclusion.
- Contributing to necessary improvements to ESICs website to ensure that New Brunswickers have timely access to poverty related data and statistics for New Brunswick.
- Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that the Economic and Social Inclusion Plan action items are implemented in a manner consistent with ESICâ??s mandate.
- Participating on various working groups to ensure cross-governmental collaboration on the delivery of action items in the Economic and Social Inclusion Plan.
- Working with community stakeholders to build strong and collaborative relationships.

Essential qualifications include:
- A university degree (preferably with some coursework in social sciences, statistics, and/or economics)
- Written and spoken competence in English and in French is required for this position.
- Minimum of basic knowledge of the policy development cycle
- Experience conducting research and analysis and collection of qualitative and quantitative data.
An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to those candidates that have experience in one or more of the following:
- Experience in research and policy in broad, cross-cutting humanitarian and/or socio-economic issues.
- Experience liaising with relevant key internal and external agencies.
- Experience with Well-Being Metrics and Measuring Social Policy Outcomes.
- Ability to navigate Statistics Canada datasets and disseminate them into plain language for users.
- Experience with preparing briefing materials for decision-makers.
- Strategic planning within an organization, community and/or volunteer environment
Subject to the response to this competition, candidates may be required to demonstrate on their application the asset qualifications in addition to the essential qualifications in order to be given further consideration.

Salary:
Pay Band 3 - $52,442.00 to $73,268.00 per annum
