Title: Cultural Outreach: L'nu model of Integrated Service Delivery in Elsipogtog
Location: Elsipogtog First Nation
Type of contract: Full-time contract position until March 2026.
Compensation: The salary offered will be based on experience: $55,000-$65,000.
Overview: Under the supervision of the Cultural Clinical Lead the incumbent will work with Elsipogtog students directly in the schools. As part of the healing team, the position's responsibilities include offering culturally based wholistic approach with mental health, addiction, academic and classroom support. The culture outreach worker will provide a trauma informed approach to all interventions and will assist and support youth and their families to safely navigate through their healing journeys. The individual will also play a key role in delivering prevention-based services and traditional activities to connect community members with wholistic services and support in the community.
Requirements:
Human Service Counsellor certificate/diploma, OR, certification recognized by the Indigenous Certification Board, OR, the ability to demonstrate comparable experience in mental health and addiction services.
Mental Health/Addiction knowledge and experience.
Understanding of cultural trauma-informed care and wise practices in providing trauma informed care.
Knowledge of First Nation culture, medicines, ceremonies, and practices.
Ability to work within a versatile team of knowledge keepers and professionals.
Willing to participate in on-going education and/or cultural knowledge.
Ability to be well organized, to manage one's time and to set priorities;
Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
Excellent work history (performance and attendance);
Ability to speak Mi'kmaq is an asset, Experience working in a Mi'kmaw community
Experience working with indigenous and clinical staff in areas of child and youth mental health.
Demonstrated skills in leadership, resource management and decision-making;
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
Criminal Record check and vulnerable sector check.
