What you will do:
Reporting to the Executive Director of Parks and Capital, you will be responsible for the planning, development and implementation of strategies for the effective management of the Department of Tourism, Heritage and Culture's capital infrastructure projects, which include new building construction, tourism and park infrastructure, signage and trail infrastructure.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing engineering and technical support, advice, recommendations and guidance to the Department of Tourism, Heritage and Culture on the Capital Infrastructure program for provincial parks, attractions and other provincial assets, such as provincially designated trail networks
  • Managing the department's capital budget and providing monthly project updates
  • Coordinating resources to ensure capital projects are completed within specified timeframes and within budget allocations
  • Collaborating with all stakeholders including other GNB departments to ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements, such as environmental, public safety, transportation, land acquisitions, archaeology testing, etc.
  • Working with engineers and designers from other GNB departments, as well as outside consultants to ensure that the technical aspects of projects are designed and tendered as scheduled
  • Representing the Department on various internal committees, as well as external consultation
  • Performing other related duties as required

You have strong project management skills, including financial budgeting and tracking and the ability to productively communicate with multiple stakeholders. Your drive for excellence, and the ability to be a team player will ensure success in this position.

Your attitude, skills and interests are just as important as your area of study. We are looking for diverse backgrounds that bring a combination of the following:

Required Competencies:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or in Architecture (Landscape) with a minimum of five (5) years of related experience which include two (2) years of project management
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of New Brunswick
  • Valid Class 5 New Brunswick Driver's License
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered

Written and spoken competence in English is required. Please state your language capability.

Wage:
Agriculture, Veterinary, Engineering, Land Surveying and Architecture (Engineer 3): $2840.95 to $3888.52 bi-weekly

Work environment:

  • Office location: Marysville Place, 20 McGloin Street, Fredericton
  • Standard hours of work: Monday-Friday, 8:15 a.m.- 4:30 p.m.
  • Significant travel required within the province
