: Job Summary This position is accountable to the Provincial Manager of Accreditation for Pathology and Laboratory Medicine (PLM). The incumbent is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining safety and quality management systems within a laboratory setting. The position ensures that the development of laboratory practices aligns with regulatory requirements and international standards. The manager also supports quality and process improvement opportunities and ensures standardized safety protocols are in place for all laboratory staff. The Laboratory Quality and Safety Manager oversees the PLM compliance program within the respective zone, acting impartially and unbiasedly in reviewing, evaluating, and resolving compliance issues regarding quality-related activities within the laboratory program. i.e. quality indicators, biosecurity, and occupational health and safety. The position ensures that laboratory professionals and other healthcare providers are advised and comply with evidence-based best practices, provincial and national legislation, and laboratory accreditation requirements, where applicable. As the Manager, this position is accountable for the day-to-day operations of the quality management group, ensuring staff training competency assessment and human resource management, including recruitment, retention, and labour relations. Job Qualifications EducationCompletion of a recognized (accredited) Medical Laboratory Technology Program. A baccalaureate degree in a healthcare-related field or other relevant degree is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Courses or certifications in laboratory quality management or quality in healthcare is required.ExperienceA minimum of 5 years of experience within the last 7 in clinical laboratory medicine is required.Experience in the development of orientation and education programs.Experience with occupational health and safety inspections and directives.Experience in drafting standard operating procedures and policies.
