Reporting to the Regional Director of Clinical Services, the Regional Manager of the Renal Program is responsible for the planning, coordination, and oversight of dialysis services across the Labrador-Grenfell Zone. This includes operational leadership of three in-centre dialysis units, the pre-renal program, and home-based dialysis services.

The successful candidate will provide strategic and operational leadership to ensure the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based care in alignment with best practices, provincial standards, and organizational priorities. The Manager will collaborate closely with interprofessional teams, regional leadership, and external partners to ensure patient-centered, efficient, and safe service delivery.

The incumbent will be expected to promote and support a culture of person- and family-centered care, lead quality improvement initiatives, and foster a positive work environment focused on safety, accountability, and continuous improvement. A strong commitment to advancing health outcomes, supporting staff development, and enhancing system integration is essential.

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an approved School of Nursing, a Bachelor of Nursing is preferred.
  • Current registration in good standing with the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (CRNNL).
  • A minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience in hemodialysis is required; applicants without this experience must be willing to complete the required six-week hemodialysis orientation.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of progressive leadership experience in a healthcare setting is an asset.
  • Demonstrated leadership, critical thinking, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in electronic documentation and health information systems, including Meditech, Med Access EMR, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Current CPR certification is required.
  • A satisfactory Certificate of Conduct and Vulnerable Sector Check is required.
  • Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant nursing experience may be considered.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide operational leadership for three in-centre dialysis units located at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital, Labrador Health Centre, and Labrador West Health Centre.
  • Oversee the Progressive Renal Insufficiency (PRI) and Home-Based Therapy (HBT) programs, ensuring delivery of high-quality, evidence-informed care.
  • Monitor and interpret program data related to pre-renal care and dialysis to support quality improvement and service planning.
  • Collaborate closely with nephrologists, interdisciplinary teams, other programs/departments, patients, and families to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care.
  • Monitor quality indicators and clinical outcomes to ensure treatment adequacy, patient safety, and adherence to best practice guidelines across all renal services.
  • Liaise with vendors and external partners to ensure appropriate equipment, supplies, and service delivery standards are met.
  • Participate in and support research and evaluation initiatives related to pre-renal care and dialysis.
  • Ensure compliance with regional and provincial policies, standards, and accreditation requirements.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and protocols that support effective program operations.
  • Prepare and manage budgets, staffing plans, and resource allocations in collaboration with regional leadership.
  • Facilitate staff development, education, and performance management activities.
  • Travel within the region is required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
