Retail Lending Officer (Casual) - Dealer Finance Centre, Automotive Finance (British Columbia)

Contributes to the overall success of the Retail Lending Department in Canada ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed and delivered in support of the team's business strategies and objectives.
The Retail Lending Officer plays a crucial role in ensuring the timely and effective decisioning of indirect retail loan and CDLSI lease applications. This position is key to delivering exceptional customer service and ensuring all activities conducted follow governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

Adjudication of Loans and Leases:

Efficiently review application queues on ALS COM/ALP and prioritize tasks to ensure prompt attention.

Make informed approval/decline decisions based on Retail Loan Policy.

Collaborate with ACE Exception Lenders for final decisions on exception credits.

Foster a smooth re-approval process by maintaining strong relationships with Operations unit staff.
Process Improvement:
- Proactively identify and recommend enhancements to Retail Lending processes and policies.
- Document insights and provide valuable recommendations to DFC Management for positive business outcomes.
- Champions a high-performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment
Customer Relationship Management:
- Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge
- Address dealer inquiries regarding declines or requests for additional information with clarity and empathy.
- Resolve issues effectively while adhering to Bank policies and guidelines, ensuring customer satisfaction.
Compliance and Safety:
- Understands how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions
- Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk
- Act as Occupational Health & Safety Officer as assigned, promoting a safe work environment.

- Extensive knowledge of retail lending indirect products and other retail offerings
- Proven ability to make sound credit decisions with confidence
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
- Proficiency with the Bank's ALS COM/ALP Retail Loan/Lease adjudication system (considered an asset)
- Ability to use various computer programs, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams; Intralink; and BNS commercial software (considered an asset)
Working Conditions
- The Retail Lending Officer executes their duties in a hybrid work environment
- Hours of operation are Monday - Thursday 7:30am - 11:00pm, Fridays 7:30am - 9:00pm, Saturdays 8:00am - 8:30pm, and Sundays 10:30am - 7:00pm -- you will be scheduled within these times.
- Comfortable working in target-based environment
- Comfortable managing client relationships to meet tight deadlines
