The Joint Economic Development Initiative (JEDI) is dedicated to supporting Indigenous peoples in reaching their full economic development potential through advocacy and networking.
JEDI invites applications for the position of contract IT Instructors who possess a deep understanding of IT principles, including Cybersecurity, hands-on technical proficiency, and a passion for teaching and mentorship. Reporting to the IT Project Manager, the IT Instructor will be responsible for the delivery of impact-rich, engaging IT training programs, playing a pivotal role in shaping the development of Indigenous IT experts and their prospects for career success.
Primary responsibilities:
Deliver JEDI's information technology curriculum, including Cybersecurity, encouraging a culturally respectful and safe environment. Instruction is generally delivered via online classes but may be in person at times.
- Contribute to curriculum assessment, development and improvement discussions.
- Assess and evaluate student performance through in-class engagement, assignments, projects, and tests.
- Stay current with IT industry trends, tools, and best practices
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and materials supplied by JEDI.
- Provide empathetic, insightful, constructive, and informative feedback to participants.
- Assess program and delivery activities for successes, challenges, and potential risks and keep management informed of the same.
- Other related activities as required.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in a related field (such as Cybersecurity or Computer Science) with experience as an instructor in the IT field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Experience with curriculum development is an asset.
- Knowledge of First Nations history, communities, culture and social concerns. Preference will be given to qualified candidates of Indigenous descent.
- Experience with various IT and cybersecurity tools and technologies.
- Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage and motivate learners.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Administrative, organizational, and MS Office skills.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel.
- Satisfactory criminal background/vulnerable sector clearance and maintenance are required.
