Is this role right for you?

  • Reporting to the Director/Principal Engineer, Cloud Engineering
  • As part of an extended support team that provides on-call rotational support. There will be some weekend and weeknight work for scheduled changes and implementations.
  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • You will manage & administer Cloud Platform on GCVE (Google Cloud VMware Engine), and On-prem VMware vSphere, vRealize Suite and VMware Cloud Foundation.
  • You will manage, transition, maintain Migration Solution (e.g. VMware HCX, Platespin etc.), work with migration team and project manager by following the developed data migration checklist to migrate VMware VMs from on-prem to GCVE
  • You will manage & administer Cloud Infrastructure on Dell vxRail, Powerflex and Nutanix HCI solutions.
  • You can transition new Cloud services into the production private Cloud.
  • You will manage & administer backup solution for Cloud Platform
  • You are not adverse in providing Levels 2 support & vendor escalations for Management tools & Cloud Services with on-call shift.
  • You can develop & document operational procedures for service operations teams.
  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?

  • 10+ years of working experience with deployment and/or manage and/or operational support of VMware vSphere Hypervisor or VCF (VMware Cloud Foundation)
  • 1+ years of hands-on technical working experience with deployment and /or manage and/or operational support of GCVE (Google Cloud VMware Engine), including NSX-T and Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
  • 2+ years of hands-on technical working experience with migrating VMware VMs between datacenters or on-prem to public by leveraging HCX, Platespin or other solutions.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with VMware vRealize suite (including vRealize Automation, vRealize Operation Manager, vRealize Log Insight, vRealize Network Insight etc.).
  • 3+ years of hands-on technical working experience with Microsoft Windows Server 2012/2016/2019 administration and/or Red Hat Linux administration 7.x/8.x/9.x administration.
  • Experience configuring and maintaining with Dell vxRail and/or Powerflex hyperconverged clusters or Nutanix HCI
  • Experience with VM or Physical machine backup from the following products: Cohesity and/or Dell EMC Data Domain (backup and replication) and/or Rubrik and/or Veeam, etc
  • Experience with Scripting (VMware PowerCLI, Backup automation, REST API scripting, PowerShell & Python
  • Technical understanding of Networking, Storage & Security concepts, technologies and operational experience.
  • Previous Banking/FI experience.
  • You must have the skill to possess excellent customer relationship and communication (verbal/written/presentation) skills to both a business and technical audience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to be able to collaborate and work closely with external vendors.
  • Ability to analyze complex situations and problems and do the necessary research using multiple sources of information to arrive at innovative solutions.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, as well as work independently or with minimal direction.
  • Good time management and organizational skills to effectively manage high scale project.
  • Completion of a post-secondary education in Computer Science, Engineering or in a related technology-based stream.
