Responsibilities

What you will be doing…

  • You will maintain and service various field equipment, with a focus on marine field equipment owned and operated by NSCC's Applied Geomatics Research Group (AGRG). This includes multiple boats, ATVs, and sensors such as bottom-mounted ADCP, RiverRay pontoon boat-mounted ADCP, turbidity sensors, and AML ocean probes equipped with turbidity, pressure, temperature, and conductivity sensors.
  • You will develop, print, and maintain 3-D printers and 3-D printed products at AGRG, ensuring there is a sufficient stock of material.
  • You will bring knowledge in GIS and Image Analysis using ESRI and PCI technologies.
Qualifications

Qualifications and Occupational Experience:

  • The minimum educational qualification for this position is a diploma in a related field or discipline specific to the nature of the research (i.e., Geomatics, Ocean Technology and Electronic Engineering Technology).
  • You have a minimum of two years (full time equivalent) of recent and related occupational experience in a research environment which includes fieldwork.
  • You have knowledge in GIS, GNSS and remote sensing as well as the ability to process a variety of data.
  • Knowledge of field data collection using single beam and multibeam echosounders would be considered an asset.
  • Occupational experience that includes data collection and monitoring for marine and environmental research initiatives would be considered an asset.
  • You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite, E-mail, and 3-D printers.
  • You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology in advancing your work.
