The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Manager, IT Planning & Business Partnership, Technical Services to join our IT Planning & Business Partnership team in Toronto.
This is a permanent onsite position.
As a Manager, IT Planning & Business Partnership, you will lead the partnership between IT and Technical Services across Exploration, Mining, Processing, Asset Management, Capital Projects, continuous improvement and operational model. Work closely with CTO leadership, the BP Technical Services will understand business priorities, processes, systems, and data requirements to develop a comprehensive multi-year digital strategy and roadmap for this business area. Your experience and skill offers you the opportunity to shape the digital future of the company through collaboration with our Technical Services division across the globe, especially Canada and Brazil.
Additionally, in this position you will:
- Act as the key interface point with Technical Services global team, developing an IT and Data Strategy and Roadmap for Vale Base Metal Technical Services, covering their business needs and collaborating with other IT BPs to ensure that supporting roadmaps integrate well into the Technical Services roadmap, managing demand intake and prioritization taking into consideration budget and resource constraints.
- Drive value through investments in IT, Digital and Data that are aligned with Technical Services short, medium and long-term objectives, developing and champion business cases for digital initiatives, ensuring alignment and integration with the VBM IT strategic plan, architectural direction, and governance processes.
- Build and maintain deep relationships and knowledge of the business, being embedded in the business to have a profound understanding of the business's strategy, roadmap, and pressing challenges
- Closely support to business process developments, optimization and transformation works, establishing the link with IT capabilities and solution as critical area to enable value realization, enduring business accountability for decisions impacting technology and ensure ITOT initiatives receive the right level of support and sponsorship from the business.
- Partner with IT delivery teams to ensure technical solutions selection and successful project implementation delivery of IT for Technical Services, fully supporting adoption of innovative technologies including AI and automation across Technical Services areas.
About You
Education:
- Undergraduate degree in Science or Engineering, ideally in Mining & Metals related fields.
Experience:
- A minimum of 10+ years of engineering experience with 5+ years in heavy industries like Mining & Metals, Oil & Gas, Chemicals, Aerospace, Manufacturing
- Expertise in one or more technical domains: Exploration, Mining, Processing, Metallurgy, Capital Projects, Industrial Automation
- Experience and interest in digital, IT systems, and data analytics.
Skills:
- Deep understanding of Technical Services processes, and operations in Mining & Metals industry or similar heavy industries
- Proven interest in IT, Tech and Data with good understanding of how digital technologies are enabling cost reduction and value creation in heavy industries.
- Ability to build a multi-year digital technology roadmap, and secure sponsorship and support from all required stakeholders to approve funding and execution
- Ability to align IT initiatives with business strategies and goals, ensuring IT delivers maximum value
- Experience controlling budget and tracking value realization.
- Experience with LEAN concepts.
- Ability to ensure day-to-day IT support requirements are consistently met and any issues that arise are resolved in a timely, effective manner
- Customer centricity and ability to ensure service levels are meet as agreed with the business.
- Creative problem solver, able to understand business strategy and needs and proactively identify digital solutions
- Verbal and written skills to effectively convey complex IT concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Proven ability to build relationships and influence at leadership level, as well as to engage with business process owners & delegates, business SME, and IT project managers & technical teams.
- English and Portuguese speaking is considered a relevant asset.
