DUTIES
The successful applicant will join NLCAHR's Contextualized Health Research Synthesis Program (CHRSP). CHRSP provides evidence- and policy-based decision support to the health system of Newfoundland and Labrador through an integrated knowledge translation (iKT) program that has been established since 2006. The Research Assistant II will be responsible for research assistance and project coordination for different types of CHRSP projects. The duties will include: developing and executing systematic-review / overview search strategies for research-based evidence in periodical indexes; critical appraisal; data extraction and synthesis; conducting interviews with key informants and focus groups; analysis of quantitative and qualitative data to supplement the interpretation of synthesis findings; report writing and dissemination; designing presentations to deliver in-person and webinar groups; building interdisciplinary project teams; coordinating project activities and consulting with project team members; scheduling and chairing project team meetings; and managing contracts and payments. The successful candidate may also be involved in participating in the review, assessment, and upgrading of CHRSP methodologies; providing research assistance and overall support to the Director or Program Coordinator; liaising with University departments and partner organizations; providing supplementary support for research teams; participating in Exchange groups; and perform other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience (1-3 years) providing research support; completion of most coursework towards a Master's degree in health services, health policy, population health or a related discipline; or any equivalent combination of experience and training. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of primary health research, systematic reviews and meta-analyses methodologies. Advanced skills in communication both written and verbal, as well as strong organizational and collaboration skills is required. Experience with quantitative and qualitative research in applied health sciences context, proficiency in technology, software, and data platforms (i.e., Microsoft Office, Google Scholar, PubMed, CIHI, StatCan, Convidence, Zotero, Endnote) is also required. Training and experience in analyzing and interpreting high quality quantitative and qualitative health research; coordinating and writing literature reviews, jurisdictional scans, environmental scans, research syntheses, overviews, and reports; effectively work both independently as well as collaboratively with a research team, expert or other partners is essential.
SALARY $61,099 - $71,679 per annum (Non-Bargaining)
