As part of the Origination Team, the Origination Specialist is responsible for conceptual development of market opportunities, promoting concepts internally and externally, identifying operational and financial requirements and risks, and ensuring settlement and reporting functions are accurate.

This role has a large financial impact on NB Energy Marketing's gross margin by expanding its business into new markets as well as maintaining existing customers. In addition to contributing to the development of the business, this role will undertake the responsibility of building tools/models to better monitor market behaviors, opportunities outside of the regular NB Power financial forecasts, and performing risk analytics on items such as load/generation variability and market volatility.

Key functions include:

• Export load pricing and procurement in surrounding provinces and Northeastern United States.
• Conduct data, energy market, and financial modelling. Perform statistical analysis on energy markets, forward curves, and energy use behaviors of NB Energy Marketing's export customers.
• Evaluation of risk mitigation instruments and strategies such as swaps, options, and other products constructed through financial engineering.

Our ideal teammate will have one of the following:

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering
• Bachelor of Computer Science Degree
• Bachelor of Business Administration Degree
Combined with
• Seven years post qualification experience with at least five of those years in data and financial modelling
• Three years of experience with Microsoft Access, SQL, R, Python, or other related databases and programming languages
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Knowledge of risk mitigation strategies, energy markets and instruments

An equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be modified.

An Eligibility List generated from this competition may be used to fill future vacancies at the same level within a period of up to 12 months.
