Salary Range: $49,605 - $62,014 per annum
YOUR FOCUS
Reporting to the Manager, Student Success, the Student Engagement Coordinator enhances student success by fostering engagement in university programs and activities. This includes leading orientation and transition initiatives, supporting student event planning and risk management, and developing programming that enriches the student experience and celebrates student achievements.
- Work closely with the Manager, Student Success department colleagues, Student Union, faculties, other Student Affairs & Services departments, and other service units on campus to develop, implement, and evaluate campus and university-wide academic and social orientation initiatives as well as other programming.
- Coordinate program development and provide day-of-event support.
- Act as manager to the Student Union Orientation Chair and advisor to Student Union Orientation executive and supervise their orientation programming initiatives.
- Work with the Student Event Risk Management (SERM) committee to develop student event risk management governance policies and procedures and communicate required processes and event planning resources to the university community.
- Work closely with the Student Event Review Committee (SERC) to operationalize SERM processes and design and instruct Primary Event Organizer (PEO) training curriculum.
- Produce materials and disseminate information through social media and other means to promotes services and resources available to students.
- Ensure timely, helpful response to student inquiries and requests from staff, faculty, deans, parents, supporters.
- Recruit, hire, and supervise student staff representative of the student body to support department programs.
- Design and instruct training curriculum, delegate, and manage student workload, and create an employment environment focused on leadership development.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Undergraduate degree required.
- 1-2 years, preferably in a post-secondary environment.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- High degree of comfort with a full suite of Microsoft 365 applications.
- Experience in independently researching, gathering & analyzing data, summarizing, creating reports & recommending solutions.
- Demonstrated judgement and decision-making skills as well as experience with project management.
- Ability to connect naturally with a wide variety of people, foster collaborative relationships, and contribute to a positive working environment.
- Displays appreciation for and recognizes value of different opinions, roles, experiences, cultures, and backgrounds.
- Detail-oriented, organized professional who is self-motivated and able to deliver high quality results under pressure, firm deadlines, and often evolving priorities.
- Naturally curious, collaborative professional with an interest in trying new ways of doing things, adopting new technologies, continuous improvement, and lifelong learning.
- Knowledge of student development theory, peer-based programs, first-year experience, and student engagement is desirable.
