Position Summary

This position is a hybrid role (work from home & office), and can be base in either our Dartmouth, NS or Moncton, NB office locations.

Working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, the Network Services team is responsible for providing voice, video, and data communications services. The successful candidate for the position of Network Analyst I will be accountable for the installation and maintenance of the Medavie Blue Cross network infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

As the successful candidate for the position of Network Analyst I, you will be accountable for the following:

  • Administer enterprise WAN/LAN, firewall environment and wireless
  • Receive, prioritize, and provide technical support for incidents and requests assigned to the team
  • Proactively monitor system performance and capacity using available tools. Collaborate with senior team members and network architect to provide recommendations
  • Proactively analyze incident trends and provide recommendations
  • Participate in a 24x7x365 On-Call rotation
  • Execute changes during prescribed release windows, including applying security patches, firmware upgrades, firewall compiles, and configuration changes.
  • Ensure data line and device database is kept up-to-date
  • Participate in and professionally represent the team with corporate projects
  • Follow and provide updates to existing documentation.

Required Qualifications:

Education: Post-secondary diploma or degree with a focus in Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience.

Work Experience: A minimum of one to two (1-2) years of network support experience is preferred.

Networking Skills:

Have experience working with the following products:

  • Routers and switches (Cisco and HP experience preferred),
  • Firewalls (Palo Alto preferred),
  • Wireless Networking (Meraki preferred),
  • VPN (IPSec and SSL), VoIP technology (Cisco).

Demonstrate working knowledge of the following protocols and concepts:

  • IPv4 and IPv6 addressing and subnetting,
  • OSPF, BGP, STP, MPLS, OTV, VRF, ACL, 802.11ac, QoS, g711, g729, and h323 codecs.
  • Network Access Control (802.1x - Cisco ISE) and management solutions such as: Cisco DNA and ACI.

Language Skills:

Previous experience or familiarity with UNIX, Linux and Windows operating systems. Be familiar with the concepts and practices of virtualization, storage, availability, capacity, and archive. Experience or knowledge with scripting, cloud providers and platforms, and ITIL v3 are considered strong assets. Occasional lifting of heavy equipment of up to 100 lbs may be required.

Language: Proficiency in English (written & spoken) required; Bilingual ( English & French) is an asset.

Security Clearance Requirement: In conjunction with our contract with the Federal Government, you will be required to have Reliability Status Clearance (Enhanced Level B). This includes Fingerprinting, Criminal Record Check, Credit Check and you must have resided in Canada for at least 5 years and hold Permanent Resident or Citizenship Status.
