Definition of Work: This is a Tier I/II technical support position, working with a team of Computer Support Specialists, Systems Analysts and Network Administrators in provision of enhanced IT services for our expanding user population. Working at the IT Help Desk (Tier I) or being assigned prioritized work orders (Tier II) by the Help Desk, this position:

• Identifies, analyses and resolves computer support, hardware and application software problems,
• recommends solutions to provide end users with a secure and stable computing environment, and coordinates implementation of same;
• is responsible for the installation and testing of operating systems, utilities and application software in a standardized manner;
• assists in the development and provision of IT related in-service training/orientation for end users and technical training for IT staff;
• provides consultation, advice and other computer support services to end users;
• assists in the development, deployment and maintenance of both local and wide area networks, deployment and use of the Internet, e-mail, and the other departmental and enterprise-wide applications;
• develops, catalogues and updates system and user documentation, oversees desktop/mobile asset management, availability, backups and security;
• assists in development of strategy related to current and future IT needs in support of Western Health’s strategic plan;
• proactively monitors desktop and mobile hardware/software, industry trends and directions and then assesses and reports on relevance and positioning required by the organization to address same;
• consults with external vendors as necessary for resolution of issues;
• may participate in rotating on-call schedule to provide after hours IT support;
• other related duties as required.

Qualifications: Graduation from a recognized university or technical college in an IT program (minimum 2-year) with specific instruction in Windows 7 OS (or higher) in a Windows 2008 Server active directory-based environment is required. Microsoft Office 2010 (or higher) and related courses equivalent to those provided in the MCSE curriculum are also required. The incumbent must have a minimum of two years’ current (within last four years) progressive work experience in information technology.
