Job SummaryThe Psychiatric License Practical Nurse II is an integral member of the interdisciplinary team providing quality care to clients of NL Health Services’ Opioid Dependence Treatment Hub. Practicing through a harm reduction lens, this position is responsible for providing comprehensive client assessments and support to individuals establishing personal recovery plans as well as short and long-term goals. The LPN II will provide practical mental health nursing and therapeutic care in the assessment process, assist with the implementation of care plans, collaborate with members of the multi-disciplinary healthcare team, and contribute to the treatment of clients. The successful applicant will provide nursing care to clients receiving suboxone or methadone treatment, offer immunizations, complete wound assessments, provide naloxone training, assess the effects of opioid use and/or other substances, provide addictions education to other services when required, see clients individually, and provide support to families. Work will be performed independently with support from the Opioid Dependence Treatment Hub team.

Regularly requires physical exertion and handling, moving, pushing or pulling objects between 10 - 15 lbs. and occasionally required to support, lift or move patients/objects up to 30 lbs.
Regularly required to work in awkward cramped positions (bending/kneeling/stretching) and constantly standing and moving about.
Regularly pushes and pulls objects using light to medium forces and stands and walks.
Regularly requires visual concentration to give medications, read orders/referrals, patients' charts/document, observe and treat patients combined with time pressures and deadlines.
Job Qualifications
Successful completion of an approved Licensed Practical Nursing program is required.
Current and continuing licensure with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (CLPNNL) is required.
One-year recent experience (within the last five years) in Adult Psychiatric Rehabilitation, Acute Care Psychiatry or Ambulatory/Community Care Psychiatry is required.
Knowledge of specific psychiatric approaches, such as supportive counselling, skills teaching, and crisis intervention.
Demonstrated communication skills, team collaboration, interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Use of a private vehicle is a condition of employment.
A satisfactory record of work performance is required.
