The Manager, Distribution Centre is responsible for providing ongoing leadership, support and coaching to employees, while overseeing the efficient operation of the Distribution Centre. The Manager, Distribution Centre spends the majority of their time on the floor, communicating expectations, evaluating performance and delivering feedback. This role is also responsible for ongoing coaching, mentoring and training for all employees in the Distribution Centre.
The Distribution Centre operates with three shifts (Day Shift, Mid Shift, Night Shift), this opportunity will be assigned to a shift based on operational needs.
Essential Responsibilities
- Provides overall leadership and management for the Distribution Centre to ensure operational results are achieved per shift while encouraging a positive work environment and culture
- Provides coaching and fundamental direction to warehouse team members on a regular basis, setting performance objectives and expectations and ensuring that standards and goals are met
- Work directly with team members to provide guidance and feedback on ways to complete the work in the safest and most efficient manner possible, in accordance with established procedures using metrics and analytics
- Responsible for the Performance Appraisal process, including writing and delivering Performance Appraisals, in accordance with the guidelines
- Oversee DC operations to ensure actions are conducted in accordance with the NSLC's OH&S management system and Collective Agreement requirements, including overseeing Safety Committee and other regulatory meetings
- Models our values and continually works to build strong peer relationships amongst members of the DC team, external customers and other business units and coaches their direct reports to do the same
- Effectively communicates organizational information to team members along with DC specific metrics such as productivity and absenteeism.
- Acts as the point of escalation for any questions from Supervisors or team members related to the workplace, policies or procedures, disputes or matters of conduct and potential discipline
- Support team members in resolving workplace conflicts in a respectful manner, with assistance from Human Resources as appropriate
- Collaborate with Human Resources to lead the recruitment process for new team members
- Partner with the Distribution Centre Trainer to execute the orientation and onboarding process for new team members
- Oversee the training function and ensure training of new and existing employees is completed, up to date, and appropriately documented in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Oversee the maintenance function in the Distribution Centre to ensure health, safety and quality standards are met
Secondary Responsibilities
- Gather employee feedback and recommendations regarding the efficiency and effectiveness of current systems and procedures to ensure continuous improvement
- Provide input and support to collective bargaining and participate in the resolution process for labor relations issues
- Perform other related duties as assigned; travel (primarily within the province) as required
As a qualified candidate you will have:
- Business Certificate or Diploma in logistics, supply chain management or a relevant field
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in leading teams
As an ideal candidate you will have:
- Experience in warehouse, inventory control or logistics/transportation
- Experience in a unionized setting
- Experience working in the beverage alcohol/cannabis industry
