Medavie is seeking an experienced and dynamic Vice President, Life and Disability to oversee our claims operations. This role is pivotal in supporting our insurance business, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and advancing the value of our life and disability services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Provide direction and oversight for life and disability operations, ensuring consistency with Medavie Blue Cross' corporate objectives.
  • Market Initiatives: Lead initiatives to enhance the value of life and disability services, reflecting market needs and client requirements.
  • Sales Support: Collaborate with the sales team to develop new business, retain existing clients, and build robust client management capabilities.
  • Profitability Assessment: Partner with sales and underwriting to assess profitability and execute operational plans for resource optimization.
  • Customer Experience: Enhance customer experience through curated care approaches, ensuring client commitments are met.
  • Results Delivery: Achieve strong results with managed risk and high-quality service delivery.
  • Employee Engagement: Drive strategies for employee attraction, retention, and engagement within the disability operation.
  • Process Improvement: Oversee process improvement and expense management initiatives, championing continuous improvement priorities.

Required Qualifications

Education :

Undergraduate degree in a related field, business degree and Masters degree would be considered an asset

Work Experience :

Minimum of 15 years progressive experience in a complex service based industry, within the healthcare/disability insurance field with a minimum of 10 years of operations leadership experience

Skills

  • Strong understanding of life and disability insurance and services.
  • Proven success in operational leadership roles in a claims management environment.
  • Ability to engage leaders and staff, driving commitment to service excellence.
  • Financial acumen and comfort with data and key performance metrics.
  • Ability to assess client needs and deliver on expectations consistently.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with internal stakeholders.
  • Leadership skills to guide a national team, with strong communication and decision-making abilities.
  • Impeccable communication and presentation skills and comfort in client settings

Language Skills :

Bilingual preferred but certainly not required.

Assesses financial impacts of life and disability management practices across the organization and implements strategies to achieve efficiencies.
