The Opportunity
We are seeking Maintenance and Operations Support summer students to join our Vale Thompson, Manitoba Operations Team for the 2025 summer work term (approximately 4 months duration).
In this role, you will have the opportunity to further your development by providing day-to-day support for various surface projects at our T1, T3 mine sites and surface plants including Health & Safety improvement initiatives, Vale Production System initiatives relating to workplace and environmental improvement with the Mining Operations Team. This is a great opportunity to gain experience in an industrial mining environment by supporting initiatives that include but are not limited to: project management along with various administrative duties.

Additionally In this position, you will:
- Build your professional network and learn an array of administrative and industrial safety related skills.
- Participate in project work pertaining to workplace improvement and risk mitigation.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders with diverse backgrounds from our various departments and functions to optimize synergies for standardization.
- Participate in daily line up team meetings, training, and safety activities.
- Support the production and maintenance teams with task such as painting, shoveling, sweeping, cleaning spills, collecting, and disposing of scrap and garbage.
- Support other day to day activities as assigned.
About You
Education:
- Currently enrolled or enrolling in Post-Secondary Education; there are no specific professional limitations though Safety and Health Professional programs are considered an asset.
Experience:
- Experience in an industrial environment would be considered an asset.
Skills:
- Effective written and verbal communication with strong interpersonal skills and relationship-building capacity. Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel, Word & PowerPoint is an asset.
- Proven time management and organizational skills. Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines. Adaptable to consistently changing priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Self-directed and comfortable working both independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team. Safety conscious and driven to contribute to improving workplace safety and health initiatives with a solution-focused mindset.
- Eager to learn new skills.
