Duties: Performs professional counselling in addictions, conducts ongoing treatment and casework with dependent individuals and their families through individual and group therapy on an outpatient basis including comprehensive assessment, treatment, and follow-up services for dependent clients to outside agencies both within and outside the province; assists clients with various community groups to provide and obtain information to provide an integrated case evaluation; accepts referrals from various services and provides necessary liaison pertaining to treatment plan and follow-up; Works independently and in collaboration with a variety of professionals in the delivery of service; Contributes to the development of supportive communities through awareness raising, prevention initiatives, and working collaboratively on programs and community committees.

Qualifications: Knowledge of professional counselling, assessment, and case evaluation techniques in the area of addictions. Candidates must have proven ability in the areas of treatment plan development, problem solving, follow-up, and community development. Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential. The required knowledge and experience in individual, group, and family counselling in the area of addictions, with specific experience in the area of prevention, education, and counselling. A Master’s Degree of Social Work preferred or a Bachelor of Social Work, or a Master’s Degree of Clinical Psychology, or a Graduate Degree in a clinical discipline with experience in an addiction setting is required. Candidates must be eligible for registration within their profession.

A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required for this position.
