The Corporate Financial Planning team provides corporate governance on matters relating to investment governance and financial planning. The team carries out business planning activities including budgeting, forecasting, and 10-year capital planning, in accordance with the International Financial Reporting Standards and regulatory requirements. It is responsible for the integrity of the annual budget which forms the basis of the revenue requirement within the general rate application. The team plays a strategic role in the organization by supporting the development and deployment of business solutions, providing support to management in critical decision making and guiding the organization towards its strategic objectives.
The Senior Financial Planner is responsible for providing critical financial analysis and insights to support the Products and Services team in decision-making processes. This role combines financial expertise with product strategy, aiming to optimize product profitability, performance, and market competitiveness. The ideal candidate will have a strong analytical background, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments to drive business results.
Key functions include:
• Conduct financial analysis to evaluate the performance and profitability of existing products.
• Prepare detailed financial models to support product pricing, costing, budgeting and forecasting decisions.
• Work closely with product managers to develop and track Operations, Maintenance and Administrative (OM&A), capital, and revenue product budgets, forecasts, and financial targets.
• Support long-term financial planning, including revenue and expense forecasting, cost analysis, and product margin evaluation.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess product performance against financial targets.
• Analyze trends and variances in product performance and identify areas for improvement.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend strategies to improve product profitability.
• Month-end close activities, such as accruals and journal entries supported by clear documentation.
Our ideal teammate will have:
• Bachelor of Business Administration or Bachelor of Commerce
• Chartered Professional Accountant designation (CPA)
• Six years of experience in an accounting or budgeting environment including financial reporting, three years of which must be post designation. This must include:
- Demonstrated experience of accounting relationships and interdependencies
- Experience with product life cycle management and understanding of product profitability metrics.
- Intermediate proficiency in excel skills, financial analysis tools and ERP systems (SAP)
- Managing schedules, milestones and deliverables
- Strong analytical skills, with demonstrated experience to interpret data and translate findings into actionable business strategies.
- Demonstrated experience of financial statements and the preparation thereof to be able to trouble shoot issues as they arise.
- Demonstrated experience identifying process improvement opportunities and implementing a solution.
An equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be modified.
