Department of Technical Services
(Three Year Contractual Position)
DUTIES
Reporting to the Director, the Divisional Manager will perform senior administrative and professional duties in managing a major division of the Department of Technical Services. The successful applicant will manage the operation of the Mechanical Division. This will include monitoring work completed by the Division to ensure productivity, quality of service and client satisfaction; providing recommendations on planning and budget matters; maintaining liaison with faculty, researchers, and senior staff within the University; overseeing employee training, development, and performance; developing short and long term objectives; recommending capital equipment purchases; ensuring compliance with university policies and the Department's Quality Management System; participating on various management committees; and performing other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Extensive experience (minimum 10 years) in mechanical engineering in a university or related environment, including considerable administrative of management experience (3-5 years); graduation with a university degree in mechanical engineering with a Professional Engineering designation is required; or an equivalent combination of experience and training will be considered. Thorough knowledge of manufacturing and fabrication processes including CNC machining, waterjet cutting, welding methods, CAD applications, 3D scanning and additive manufacturing technologies is essential for this role, as well as mechanical design experience and competencies in ASME codes and Boiler and Pressure Vessel legislation. The successful applicant will be expected to demonstrate strong leadership, innovative thinking, and client service attributes.
SALARY $94,357 - $124,155 per annum (Leadership Group)
