The opportunity:
The Policy, Strategic Planning and Project Management Office Division at the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development is seeking a Senior Policy Analyst to join the Policy and Legislative Affairs Branch.

What you will do:
The senior policy analyst will be responsible for identifying and working to address policy issues, developing new provincial policies, leading key files, and providing policy analysis and advice. They will be responsible for researching issues, making presentations, participate in the development of written proposals, Cabinet submissions, reports, briefing notes, and strategic plans. The senior policy analyst will work closely with other staff, branches, and departments, as well as with both the anglophone and francophone school districts throughout the province.
The major responsibilities of the position are:
- Coordinate litigations and human rights complaints and administrative fairness processes for the department and the seven school districts.
- Develop policy, legislative and regulatory proposals for Cabinet approval.
- Provide advice and briefing materials to answer questions about early childhood and K-12 policy and legislation under the Education Act and the Early Childhood Services Act.
- Develop responses to requests from the public, school districts, other jurisdictions and stakeholders.
- Liaise with other jurisdictions, consult with stakeholders and represent the Department on inter-departmental committees.

Candidates must be skilled, agile, outcomes-focused, highly motivated, and positive-thinking. The senior policy analyst is responsible for client engagement, identifying opportunities, research and analysis, project management, group facilitation, business case development, and report writing. The policy professional will engage and facilitate internal and external stakeholders to inform Government's decision-making process strategically, effectively, and efficiently for program transformations and large-scale project investments.
Your attitude, skills and interests are just as important as your area of study. We are looking for diverse backgrounds that bring a combination of the following:
Required Competencies:
- University degree in law, human rights, arts or social science.
- Minimum of six (6) years of related work experience in the field of project coordination, research, and projects which involve changes to regulations, legislation, and provincial school policy.
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
Written and spoken competence in English and French is required. Please state your language capability.

- Preference may be given to candidates who demonstrate experience in legal analysis and/or have a law degree.

Wage:
Pay Band 6 - $76,622 – $101,920 annually.
Work environment:
- Office location: 250 King Street, Fredericton.
- Standard hours of work: Monday - Friday, 8:15-4:30.
